Episode 306 - The Power of Child-Like Faith

26 May 2026

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness" - Lamentations 3:22–23

My grandson is six years old. He doesn't ask if the bills are paid. He doesn't wonder if we love him. He just… trusts. Watching him this week wrecked me in the best possible way — because I realised that's exactly how God is inviting us to live. Not foolishly. Not blindly. But with that deep, settled confidence of a child who knows they are completely safe in their Father's hands. Here's how to get back there.

Part 1 | Write It Down — Build Your Evidence

Before a child learns to trust, they accumulate evidence. Every meal, every bedtime, every hug — it adds up into a foundation they stand on without even realising it. We have evidence too. We've just stopped keeping track of it.

The first step is to deliberately sit down and record where God has been faithful to you. Not a vague sense that He's good — specific moments. The provision that arrived. The situation that resolved in a way only He could have orchestrated. The prayer that was answered differently than you expected, but turned out to be exactly what you needed.

When the wobbles come — and they do — you need something solid. Your Faithfulness Record is that solid ground.

So this week, find 3 things, write them down. Ask God to help you remember. He loves to remind us of who He has been. And every time you add to that list, you are literally building the foundation of your trust — one remembered goodness at a time.

What if finding your tribe wasn't something you had to force? What if it was something you could actually ask God to do with you?

Whether you're believing for a healed relationship, a breakthrough in your business, or a dream that feels impossibly far away, I think this is going to give you something real and practical to hold onto.

Part 2 | Rehearse It — Direct Your Imagination

Every one of us has triggers. That particular anxiety that flares when money is tight, or a relationship feels uncertain, or a health report comes back unclear. When a trigger fires, the enemy is ready with a highlight reel of every worst-case scenario — and he'll run it on loop if we let him.

The counter to that is rehearsing the goodness of God — on purpose, in the middle of the hard place.

This is what David did in Psalms. He didn't wait until he felt better to praise God. He praised Him in order to feel better. He rehearsed His faithfulness out loud, in the dark, before the feelings caught up. And it worked. It rewrites the neural pathways. It answers the emotions — not by dismissing them, but by giving them better information to work with.

So the next time you feel that trigger, try this: "I remember when God…" and finish the sentence from your list. Redirect your imagination from the what-ifs to the what-He-has-dones. That single practice is one of the most powerful spiritual disciplines I know.

Part 3 | Live It — Partner With the Holy Spirit

Here's where we often get stuck: we know what we're supposed to think. We repeat the scripture. We try to believe it. But the trigger is still there, and sheer willpower isn't moving it.

This is because you can't bully a trigger into submission. You have to replace it — with truth, held in place by the Holy Spirit.

You don't have to do this alone. In fact, you're not supposed to. Philippians 2:13 tells us it is God who works in us — both the wanting to and the ability to. That means you can come honestly to Him: "Lord, I'm triggered and scared. I remember Your goodness here. Holy Spirit, will You help me stand in that truth instead of this fear?" That's the partnership. That's the practice. It's not a formula — it's a relationship.

And over time, this honest, consistent leaning into Him is what transforms us by the renewing of our minds, just as Romans 12:2 promises. Slowly but surely, childlike trust becomes your default again.

Say “Yes” to God’s Invitation

You don't have to manufacture faith you don't feel. You just have to take the next honest step with your Father. Write down what He has done. Rehearse it when fear comes knocking. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live from that place. These are the practices that bring us back to the trust we were always designed for — the simple, settled, unshakeable faith of a child who knows, without a shadow of doubt, that they are loved.

Will you accept the invitation? Will you let Him renew your mind on this? I promise you, He is so worth trusting.
