"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
— Jeremiah 29:11
Sometimes we get so frustrated, convinced we're waiting on the Lord for something — when actually He's already put it in place. We just haven't stepped into it yet.
This year, I learned that lesson over a shelf I'd been walking past for months. It was right there the whole time; I'd simply been ignoring it because it sat in a place I don't normally look. So let me share three things that help me move from frustration to expectant hope, and into the plans He's already made available.
Step 1 | Lift Your Head and Become Aware
It's so easy to live our whole day with our heads down. The to-do list, the diary, the things that simply have to get done — the humdrum of everyday life pulls our attention low and keeps it there. We move from one task to the next and never stop to ask the bigger question.
But if we really took Jeremiah 29:11 seriously, we'd be lifting our heads and asking, "Wow, Lord, what are the plans You have? What do You want to put in place? What do I get to do with You today?" That's all awareness is — recognising that God has so much available, far beyond the ordinary. He's placed treasures around us that we walk right past, not because they're hidden, but because we're not looking. The first step is simply to look up and expect more than the humdrum.

If there's one question I get asked more than any other, it's this:
How do you know it's God speaking?

For the last couple of days, two words have been running around in my head: radical generosity. I've learned to pay attention when something repeats itself like that
Step 2 | Ask What Season You're In
Here's something I do often: I talk to the Lord about the timeline of my life. He lives outside of time, but you and I live in linear, day-by-day time — so I get to ask Him, "Lord, I'm expecting this thing, but is it even the season for it yet?"
Because it would be crazy to expect strawberries in the middle of winter, wouldn't it? We could get so worked up that the plants aren't growing, so frustrated that it's not happening — when really, it's just the wrong season. The moment we stop and ask the Lord what this season holds, everything softens. We don't have to lead from frustration anymore. Instead, we get to ask, "How can I engage with the season I'm actually in?" and partner with what God is genuinely doing right now.
Step 3 | Celebrate the Adventure of Today
Once we're aware, and once we know where we are on His timeline, the most beautiful thing is left to do — celebrate with Him. To wake up with excited expectation and say, "Okay, Lord, now that I'm paying attention, what do I get to do today?"
This is exactly why I love calling this an adventure with Jesus. It's waking up each day and asking, "Lord, what's the adventure we get to go on? What piece of this can unfold today, and how do I partner with You in it?" That one question lifts us clean above the humdrum of everyday life and sets us somewhere far better — genuinely excited to do life with Him, rather than just getting through it on our own.
✨ Say “Yes” to God’s Invitation
So, friend, this is the adventure Jesus is inviting you on today — not anxious waiting, but expectant hope. Look up. Ask what's available right now. Then celebrate what He's already placed in front of you.
He is for you, He is with you, and He loves to do life with you.
Will you accept?
