Episode 299 - 3 Biblical Keys to Building Better Relationships

17th February 2026

Have you ever walked away from a difficult conversation thinking, why is this so hard? Whether it's a colleague who frustrates you, a friendship that feels strained, or a family dynamic that never quite seems to heal — relationships can be one of the most challenging parts of life. But they can also be the most beautiful. In Matthew 22:37–39...

"Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself."

... Jesus gives us three extraordinary keys: love God, love yourself, and love others. And the order matters more than you might think.

Part 1 | Start with God

The first key Jesus gives us is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength — and this is where everything else begins. But here's what I want you to understand: God isn't asking you to manufacture love for him out of thin air. He knows you can't. Instead, he offers himself as the source. He is the only one in your life who is capable of truly unconditional love — no strings, no score-keeping, no pulling away when you don't get it right.

So the invitation here is simply to
get to know him. Ask him questions. Be curious. What does he care about? What brings him joy? What breaks his heart? The more you discover who God really is, the more naturally your love for him will grow — and it becomes the solid foundation everything else is built on.

What if everything you've been taught about growing closer to God has been missing the most important piece?

Part 2 | Learn to Love Yourself

This is the step many of us skip — and it might be why our other relationships keep struggling. Jesus says love others as you love yourself, which means the way you relate to yourself directly shapes how you relate to everyone around you. The key here is to ask God how he sees you. Not how your past mistakes define you. Not how your worst days represent you. But how the God who made you, redeemed you, and calls you his own actually thinks about you. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus — and God takes genuine delight in who you're becoming.

When you begin to receive that love and see yourself with his eyes, something shifts. You become kinder to yourself, more patient with your own journey, and far more equipped to extend that same grace to the people in your life.

Part 3 | Let Love Flow to Others

Once you've experienced God's love and begun to receive it for yourself, the third step becomes the most natural thing in the world — letting it flow outward to others. Think of it like this: God's love flows down to you, fills you up, and then overflows into your relationships. This is what transforms even the most difficult connections in your life. That person who frustrates you at work? Instead of focusing on what bothers you, try asking God how he sees them. What's special about this person? What's underneath the behaviour I'm reacting to?

When you begin to see people through God's eyes, you stop reacting and start responding — with patience, with curiosity, with genuine care. You start calling out the gold in people instead of grating up against them. And that changes everything.

Say “Yes” to God’s Invitation

You don't need to figure out your relationships on your own. Jesus has already given us the roadmap — love God, love yourself, love others — and he's ready to walk every step of it with you. Start small. Ask one question. Take one step.

The journey of transformation begins right where you are, and I promise you, it's one of the most beautiful journeys you'll ever go on. Let's do this together. 💛

Blessings to you
