Episode 296 - How God Created YOU to Connect with Him

What if everything you've been taught about growing closer to God has been missing the most important piece? Not more Bible reading. Not more prayer time. Not fixing more things about yourself.

What if the invitation for this year is simply to discover how God created you to connect with Him—face to face, friend to friend? After over ten years of coaching Christians, I've learned this truth:

every answer flows from deeper connection with God, not from more doing. Let me show you what this looks like.

Part 1 | Discover your connection style 🤲

The first step is to recognize that God didn't create a one-size-fits-all relationship template. He made you uniquely, which means He designed a unique way for you and Him to connect. Some people come alive in worship. Others find God in quiet study. Some meet Him on morning walks or during runs. The question isn't "What's the right way to connect with God?" The question is "How did God create me to connect with Him?"

This matters because you can follow all the "right" advice—read your Bible for 20 minutes, pray on your knees, attend every church service—but if it doesn't align with how God wired you, it will feel like obligation instead of relationship. The principle of spending time in God's word is non-negotiable. How you do it? That's your beautiful discovery to make with Him.

Part 2 | Build the foundation 🤝

Here's what I've seen in every single coaching session: when someone knows God's character and nature deeply, everything else falls into place. When you truly understand how loved you are, how safe you are with Him, how much He can be trusted—your entire approach to faith transforms. You stop coming to prayer from a place of panic and start coming from a place of partnership. You stop reading the Bible as a checklist and start reading it as love letters from Someone you're getting to know.

This is the bedrock. This is the foundation everything else is built on. Just like any human relationship, the more time you invest in getting to know God, the deeper and richer it becomes. You discover new things about Him. You see His hand in places you never noticed before. You understand His heart in fresh ways. And that connection? It changes everything.

Part 3 | Walk it out daily🤝

Once you've established that connection—once you're spending regular time getting to know God in the way He created you to connect—here's where the magic happens: you start naturally asking Him how to walk things out in your practical life. Not from a place of obligation, but from relationship.

This is what I do on my morning walks. Even when it's freezing cold, I go out and talk to Jesus about everything—the sunrise, the plants, the little animals, the day ahead. This is how He and I connect. And out of that connection, out of that relationship where I know His heart and He knows mine, I ask Him: "How do we walk this out today, Lord?" Then I listen. And I follow. And everything flows from that place of deep connection with Him.

✨ Say “Yes” to God’s Invitation

My friend, this is your invitation for this year. Stop striving. Stop trying to do more. Instead, discover how God created you to connect with Him, then invest your time there. Get to know His character, His nature, His heart. Fall in love with who He is. And watch how everything else—the obedience, the joy, the answered prayers, the peace—flows naturally from that place of deep connection.
