Doing Life With God — All Day, Every Day
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through your whole day connected to God?
Not just in your morning devotional, but in the middle of spilled coffee, tight deadlines, toddler tantrums, or that overwhelming moment when your heart sinks and you just don’t know what to do?
The truth is: Jesus never meant for connection with Him to be limited to the “quiet” parts of our lives.
He wants to walk with us in every moment — the sacred and the messy. And the beautiful news? We can learn to live in that constant connection, no matter what the day throws at us.
In this week’s episode, I shared one of the most powerful (and practical!) keys I’ve ever learned for doing life with God — not just on Sundays or early mornings, but all day long.
Here’s what it looks like:
| 🌱 Why It Matters
Connection with God isn’t reserved for Sunday services or when we finally find a quiet moment before the kids wake up.
It’s meant for real life.
The messy life.
The “I’m about to lose it” life.
But let’s be honest — in the heat of emotion or when everything’s going sideways, we don’t always reach for a Bible verse. And sometimes hearing, “Just have more faith,” doesn’t land well in the moment.
That’s why we need practical ways to connect with God right in the middle of the mess — ways that are simple, doable, and grounded in the reality of relationship.
| 🙌 The Key Practice
Years ago, I saw this modeled by a mentor of mine, and it’s stuck with me ever since. I’ve used it myself over and over — and now I pass it on to coaching clients who are looking for that real-life connection with Jesus, too.
Here’s what I do:
I hold out my hands in front of me.
I close my eyes.
I lift my face.
And I begin to say:
“Thank You, Lord. Thank You. Thank You.”
That’s it.
It may sound simple, but it’s powerful. That small shift in posture and focus resets everything. It re-aligns my heart and spirit. And it re-establishes connection with the One who never left but who I’ve tuned out in the chaos.
Suddenly, gratitude starts to rise.
My breathing slows.
My ears begin to hear again.
My heart comes back to peace.
And I remember — I’m not alone. He’s right here.
| 💡 Daily Practice
This isn’t a one-time spiritual tool — it’s a practice. And the more I’ve used it, the more natural it’s become.
There are days when my emotions are high, the to-do list is overwhelming, or I’ve just lost my peace and patience. It’s in those moments that this practice has saved me from spiraling.
Sometimes, I even set reminders on my phone — little nudges throughout the day that say things like:
“Reconnect.”
“Take a breath.”
“He’s here.”
“Thank You, Lord.”
It’s not about trying harder. It’s about abiding — exactly like Jesus described in John 15.
The branch doesn’t produce fruit through effort. It just stays connected to the Vine. And from that place of connection, fruit naturally grows.
This practice helps me stay connected — not perfectly, but faithfully.
And that’s the difference between striving in my own strength… and walking in peace, power, and purpose with the Holy Spirit.
✨ Try It Today
You don’t need fancy tools or a special moment. You can start right now.
Practice it with me:
🤲 Hands out
👁 Eyes closed
🌤 Face lifted
💨 Deep breath
🗣 “Thank You, Lord. Thank You.”
Then pause.
Notice what shifts.
Let that connection re-open.
Let His presence meet you right where you are.
This is what doing life with God really looks like.
It’s simple. It’s real. And it’s always available.
This is the adventure Jesus is inviting us into — to walk with Him, moment by moment, all day long. Will you accept?
Blessings to you
