How to Set Goals With God

(3 Powerful Steps for Kingdom Success)

Have you ever thought about what it would look like to set goals with God? In Isaiah 55:8-9, God reminds us:

“My thoughts are higher than your thoughts, and My ways higher than your ways.”

So why stop at our own limited perspective when we can partner with the Creator of the universe in our goal-setting?

Today, I want to share three powerful steps that will help you set goals with God’s wisdom and guidance. These are the same steps I use personally and with my coaching clients, and they’ve transformed the way we see and achieve our goals.

1 | Realize You’re a Creator With God

When you set goals, you’re stepping into God’s creative nature. He looked at the void and spoke the world into existence. He imagined fruit trees, oceans, animals—and they came to life. Because you’re made in His image, you get to co-create with Him.

Even if life feels messy right now—maybe your “living room” is full of boxes and unfinished projects—you can hold the vision of what God wants to bring forth. By acknowledging that you’re a creator in Christ, you gain the courage to step forward in faith.

2 | Dream With God About the Vision

God doesn’t create randomly—He designs with purpose. Just as He had a vision for every tree and creature, you can ask Him to show you the vision for your life, family, or business.

Take time to dream with Him. Get out a journal, whiteboard, or even a scrap of paper, and ask:

- “Lord, what does this area of my life get to look like with You?”

- “What impact do You want me to have on the people around me?”

Ephesians 3:20 promises that God will do more than you could ask, think, dream, or imagine. When you invite Him into your vision, He not only fulfills the desires of your heart, but also brings to pass the desires of His heart.

3 | Follow God’s Guidance in the Practical Steps

Goal-setting isn’t just about inspiration—it’s about walking it out with God’s direction. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

In practice, this means asking:

- “Lord, what steps should I take this week?”

- “How can I align my work with the way You designed me?”

For example, one of my clients thought she should focus on tasks that made the most money. But when we asked God, He reminded her that she’s called to people first. By shifting her focus to serve people, the financial fruit followed naturally.

✨ Final Thoughts

Friend, this is the adventure—setting goals not just with your own wisdom, but with God’s higher perspective. When you create with Him, dream with Him, and follow His guidance, your goals become testimonies that point back to Jesus.

So grab a journal, take a walk, or open a spreadsheet—and start setting goals with God. He’s inviting you into a life where your dreams and His purposes align for Kingdom impact.

✨ Will you say “yes” to His invitation today?

Blessings to you
